Technical Questions Part 1

1. The gradient tool is the tool that looks like a square, with a rectangular object fading from light to dark, and has a small right hand triangle in the bottom right hand corner. It is in the right column and is the 6th square down. The Pen tool is the third button down on the right column. It has a calligraphy pen on it and also has a little right hand triangle on the bottom left. The shape tool is the 9th down in the right hand column. It has a square that is somewhat faded in the middle that is gray.

2. The gradient would look black on the bottom and become lighter towards the top of the canvas (fading from black to white.)

3. To change the gradient from transitioning from a solid color to a transparent, you need to click on the icon that is second from the left on the top bar that shows a little gradient of what it will look like. Click on the second on from the right and it shows the color fading into a gray and white checkerboard pattern (this represents transparency.)

4. You have made Vector Art.

5. No it is not a closed path.

6. The rectangle will be blacked.

7. To make a circle, you will right click on the rectangle button, hold it down, and click on the ellipse button.

8. 72 dpi

9. DPI = dots per inch

10. Both of the pictures will print the same size. They are the same size, but photo B looks larger because it is magnified 66.7% while photo A is only magnified 50%.

Extra Credit: PPI = pixels per inch
